The Economist - The Future of Telecoms

If you pass a newsstand today or tomorrow, pick up a copy of The Economist. They are running an excellent special report on the future of Telecoms, with the independent, slightly continental perspective that makes the Economist such a good periodical.

The above link is free, but the additional articles are not. Print subscribers are entitled to a free online subscription. Otherwise, hit your local newsstand.

While the article compilations will not be enlightening to readers here, the statistics about carrier operations as well as interviews with carriers on subjects such as VoIP and IPTV are too extensive to reprint at length here. One graphic illustrates the dramatic decline in the cost of an overseas call- I don’t think those are inflation adjusted dollars either.
