Nyquist Capital provides actionable and qualitative insight into the Networking and Communication component, equipment, and carrier marketplace.

Our objective is to provide this insight to investors in publicly traded equities but our work is just as useful to those operating or investing in private companies. Therefore, we offer commentary and analysis for market participants in addition to advisory services for investors.

We strive to distinguish ourselves with the following attributes:

  • Macro Orientation - We were first to discover that Google built it’s own switching equipment (see “Google’s Secret 10GbE Switch“)and first disclosed how Cisco has a corrosive impact on the optical components business (see “Cisco’s Optical Illusion“). These insights were possible only due to our preference to operate with a Macro perspective, one that simultaneously examines customer, supplier, political, and competitive relationships. It also requires drawing information from a wide network of industry contacts.
  • Deep Tech - Speaking with management is good; speaking with engineering and marketing is better. Operational expertise and industry contacts are essential in order to develop unique insight in this industry. Only by speaking with the engineers in the lab or carrier central office can the full story be deduced. We communicate with and publish insight from those who work in the industry, not just those who watch from the edge.
  • Strategic Focus - The ill wind of prevailing opinion blows strong in technology investing. Our specialty is identifying what is unseen, unnoticed, and unknown by connecting the dots that may be scattered among the component, equipment and carrier sectors. While we tend to be thematic and operate with long time horizons, occasionally our work identifies short term opportunities.
  • Two Customers - Our research is designed to be equally useful to both industry participants and institutional investors. We provide technical insight for the finance community, and financial insight for the tech community.
  • Open Research Architecture - We make mistakes, and the quickest way to find them is by inviting public critique. Open and uncensored comments allow you to see what people think of our opinions. In turn, this provides a stream of information that allows us to challenge our conclusions.
  • Independent, Not Contrarian - We recognize that our client’s time is a valuable resource. We don’t waste time acknowledging our agreement with obvious and widely held opinions. Instead we focus on what is unseen, unrecognized, and unknown. Most research and media outlets today would benefit greatly from the concept of More Signal, Less Noise.
